If you ever suffered dental trauma, it is important that you immediately contact our office, Easton Smiles, for emergency dental care. Our emergency dentist in 02356, Dr. Thomas F. Herlihy, is well-trained in providing care for dental trauma to minimize tooth loss.
The two most common types of dental trauma are when a tooth is avulsed or dislodged. When a tooth has been avulsed, it means that the tooth has been knocked out of the mouth. When this occurs, time is of the essence. The sooner you are able to get to the dentist with the tooth, the more likely it is that the tooth can be successfully reinserted into your mouth. You will want to immediately contact our dental office for an appointment to see our emergency dentist in 02356. Our dental staff will also give you instructions on how to safely transport the tooth to our office. You will want to pick up the tooth by the enamel portion, and not by the roots. The tooth should then be put into a glass of milk, or water with a bit of salt in it, for safe transport. Once at our office, our dentist will work to reinsert the tooth. If this is successful, you will also need to have a root canal treatment in a couple of weeks to complete treatment. When a tooth is dislodged, it means that it has been pushed back into the gums. If this is the case, you will also need to immediately come to our dental practice. Hopefully our dentist will be able to reinsert the tooth in its proper location. If there has been no damage to the tooth, you will not need any additional care. However, there are times when you too will need to have a root canal procedure in order to ensure that the tooth is able to successfully remain in your mouth.
If you need to see our emergency dentist in 02356, contact our office immediately, and let our office staff know the reason for your call so that an immediate appointment can be arranged.
